Composer, director, vocalist and performance artist Marcela Lucatelli presents an installation and performance conjugating the promises of a new world infused in samba and apocalypse. The host is the bunker for tomorrow’s war, the war that has not yet come, that may never come, that may come tomorrow. Costumes and props and precious artifacts from the artist’s earlier performances become the living stage for a new character. This is Pomba-Gira: the Afro-Brazilian black magic epitome that personifies female sexuality, beauty and desire. Frenzied drums, heavy tropical rain and synthetic white noise melt the notions of space and time. Taking off from a bossa-nova line towards what the humanity project could never dream to be. So nice. Life would be so nice.
